This can be a single journey or a return journey. TPT is happy to accompany your pet to the vet and take the necessary notes/medication/advice to relay to you upon its safe delivery home. You don’t have to struggle to find a taxi that accepts animals or even have to take any time off work if you don’t want to.
Established with several boarding kennels and catteries around North London and Hertfordshire, TPT is a safe and economical way to take the stress out of your holiday arrangements and leave the transportation of your pet to us. We will drop your pet(s) to a friend/family member, pet sitter or boarding facility at the start of your holiday and then pick them up and bring them home to you at the end of it, leaving you to concentrate on just having a great time!
Tara’s Pet Taxis will transport your deceased pet with the utmost care, dignity and respect to the vet or crematorium, or as you so wish. We appreciate and understand as pet lovers how distressing this moment is and are proud to be able to offer support and comfort at this most significant time.
This service is very broad and covers every other transportation requirement that a pet may have, for example to a: Groomer, Dog Show, Training Class, Airport, Pet Sitter/Friend’s house, Doggy Day Care etc.
In addition to supporting hundreds of pet owners with transportation annually, TPT proudly supports the following Borough Councils as a preferred supplier – Barnet, Hackney, Hillingdon, Enfield and Hertsmere. We have a long working relationship with the Arkley Pet Hotel, Elmtree Pet Hotel and the PDSA in Hendon, amongst other boarding facilities and veterinary surgeries.
All transportation is calculated and priced base to base (base to pet pick up, to pet drop off, back to base).
All prices below are within TPT working hours. Out of hours will increase a little.
For SHORT JOURNEYS – Under 100 miles or within London and M25: an hourly rate applies: from £32.
For LONG JOURNEYS – Totalling more than 100 miles and outside of London: mileage is charged at 62p per mile and an hourly rate of £13 p/hr Mon-Fri, £16 p/hr Sat and £20 p/hr Sun and Bank Holidays.
TPT is not licensed to carry human passengers. If you have to accompany your pet, then please express this to us and we can arrange an upfront payment via BACS to accommodate this. But, this is only in emergency situations and the pet owner must understand that they are traveling at their own risk and are not protected by TPT’s pet business insurance, which only insures their pet(s). TPT does not charge extra for carrying a pet’s owner(s).
Generally speaking, no. We try to only transport one family’s pet(s) at a time so your pet(s) receive our full attention and care and are given a home-from-home experience. Occasionally we might double up on a job to avoid time, but only with the owner’s consent and this will tend to be different types of pets, i.e. a dog from one home and a cat from another’s, so they travel in separate enclosed areas of our vehicles.
Not unless the owner specifically requires it. Adult dogs travel freely in the boot of our vehicles behind a dog guard, or have the option to travel within the body of the car secured by a doggy seatbelt, if they wear a harness. We only tend to transport puppies in crates to limit any accidents!
Tara’s Pet Taxis drivers hold Type 1 APHA Transportation licenses, therefore we are only permitted to transport domestic pets within the UK for journeys up to 8 hours. If going abroad or coming from abroad we can transport to/from airports/ferries/channel tunnel links in the UK, but an overseas transporter would have to do the overseas part of your pet’s journey.
We only transport pets with their human if the journey is absolutely necessary for the pet i.e. the destination is somewhere the pet needs to go, as opposed to their owner. For example, emergency vet appointments or when an animal is being given up to a rescue organisation. As per the disclaimer on our website, humans travel at their own risk. However, one of our driver’s is soon to receive their private hire license, so as soon as this happens Tara’s Pet Taxis will be legally able to carry human passengers too!
